Precision Delivery From the Air
[ PATENT PENDING ]
A high-accuracy airborne deployment system designed for autonomous delivery to GPS-designated ground targets. Optimised for Beyond Visual Line of Sight (BVLOS) operations, the system accommodates a wide range of payloads in modular, aerodynamic pods, for a wide range of applications.
Operational Outcomes
Real-world results from our operations with New Zealand’s Department of Conservation
High Accuracy and Effectiveness
- 100% accurate baitpod delivery across all operations.
- Pest populations reduced by 90–100% in treatment areas, with rats and possums showing over 95% reduction.
Environmental and Technical Success
- No adverse environmental effects observed.
- Drone and payload system proved robust and adaptable, even in challenging terrain and near high-tension power lines.
Adaptive and Targeted Deployment
- Variable baitpod application improved efficiency compared to grid-based methods.
- Pre-feeding strategies overcame rat neophobia, increasing bait uptake and kill rates.
Operational Efficiency and Safety
- Total operation times: 5–7 hours; average flight time ~1 hour per operation.
- No safety incidents reported; efficiency improved with refined planning and setup.
Platform Agnostic Design
The deployment units feature self-contained electronics, making it largely platform-agnostic and compatible with most VTOL UAVs. Its modular design allows for flexible sizing and mission-specific configuration.
- Adaptable to heavy-lift and smaller drones.
- Platform Agnostic
Extreme Accuracy
This system delivers exceptional ground-target accuracy through the combined performance of the release unit and the aerodynamically engineered pod design. The result is consistent, reliable delivery exactly where it’s needed, even in challenging conditions.
- Aerodynamically neutral pods
- Target footprint 30 cm on the ground from 60 m altitude
- Retains high accuracy in windy conditions
BVLOS
Ideally suited for fully automated and beyond visual line-of-sight operations. Specific targets can be pre determined, both pod deployments and data capture can be obtained without the need for real time piloting.
- Pre-programmable
- Autonomous compatable
All Terrain Deployment
Designed to operate where traditional predator control struggles, the system excels in remote and inaccessible terrain, from thick scrub like gorse and blackberry to steep cliffs, deep gullies, ravines, and dense native forest. It also supports operations in culturally and environmentally sensitive locations such as pā sites, urupā, and wāhi tapu, where ground disturbance must be minimised.
- Dense Vegetation
- Steep Terrain
- Dangerous Terrain
- Sensitive Sites
Expanded cAPABILITIES
This system is inherently open to expanded applications.
- Conservation → toxic baiting, reforestation seedlings
- Humanitarian → medical supplies, comms units
- Intelligence → sensors and surveillance hardware
- Civil defence → remote infrastructure support
The Pods
The pods are a key component of the Precision Deployment System, refined through extensive testing to optimise aerodynamics and material performance. Multiple pod types are available within a standardised geometry, with options tailored to biodegradable, reforestation, sensor, and communications applications. Both pod size and deployment units can be scaled to match operational requirements, enabling a wide range of mission profiles.
- Standard geometry with multiple material options (biodegradable, hardened, 3D-printed, cast)
- Scalable pod sizes and deployment units to suit diverse payloads
- Compatible with toxic baits, seedlings, sensors, communications, and more
- Easily adaptable for future applications within the existing format
Optional Automated pod loading system
For high-volume missions, an optional custom built robotic loader enables rapid, continuous pod preparation.
Data Banking
Over time every operational deployment builds a growing repository of operational data, enabling deeper accuracy, stronger pattern recognition, and continuously improved mission performance. Every deployment enhances future results.
- Deployment logs, precision metrics, and environmental data
- Accumulates corroborative data for comparison over time
- Expands data interoperability with other organisations
- Supports post-operation review and optimisation
Deployment unit VariantS
There are three deployment sytems for our pods. Each unit utilises the same pod system but for varing applications.
- Modular silos carry interchangeable payloads for multi-point drops on any platform.
- Canopy variant delivers precise drops into dense or inaccessible terrain without ground disturbance.
- Hopper (in development) enables targeted, programmable release of large-volume payloads using existing hardware.
- Pods are customisable while remaining cross-compatible with all deployment units.
